Meet the Players!!!
1. Kevin Poole
Age: 44
Height: 5"10
Weight: 12st
Former Clubs: Leicester, Birmingham,
Bolton, Derby
Aaron Webster
Age: 26
Height: 6"0
Weight: 11st
Former Clubs: Trainee
Already established as one of the
best players in the clubs history at the young age of 25, Aaron is, like Terry Henshaw one of the longest serving players
currently at the club, with over 300 apperances. A left back by trade, Aaron has operated in many positions from central
defender to striker. A first team regular this season, and expected to play a large role next season. He had apparently recieved
interest from league clubs earlier in his career but any interest seems to have gone.
Andrew Corbett
Age: 25
Height: 6"0
Weight: 11st
Former Clubs: Kidderminster, Nuneaton, Solihull
A striker for all of his career, he moves to Burton Albion, as is now a right back.
However now established in the position, and does seem like he was made for it. At 25 he has time on his side, and after
recent good performances, I'm sure that Andy could be with the club for a few more years yet, a great utility player.
5. Darren Tinson
Age: 37
Height: 5"11
Weight: 13st
Former Clubs: Northwich, Macclesfield, Shrewsbury
When Darren arrived at the club at the age of 36, not many expected that Tinson would be
a good signing. However after just a handful of appearances he showed why he is one of the best defenders in non league football.
A sturdy defender, similar to the great Tony Adams, he has eshablished himself as a rock in the back four. However this
is officially as yet his last season at the club, with his plans to retire at the end of the year.
6. Ryan Austin
Age: 22
Height: 6"2
Weight: 12st
Former Clubs: Crewe
Already a club favourite, Ryan Austin is fast becoming a very solid defender. With electric
pace and a good head, he has all the abilities needed to go places, and still only being 22 years old, surely league football
awaits for this young star. He and manager Nigel Clough seem to have a strained reletionship with Austin regularly dropped
in favour of Clough favourite Darren Stride.
7. Darren Stride (THE CAPTAIN)
Age: 31
Height: 5"11
Weight: 13st
Former Clubs: Trainee
Long standing club captain, and with 500 appearances and over 100 goals to his name, Darren Stride
is the best Burton Albion player of all time, and
he is still only 31! Although he has had a few injuries over the last few years, he still gives 110% to the club and recently
led the club out to play Man Utd, although he isnt expected to play for another 10 years it is likely that he will always
be associated with the club in one form or another. Sure to aquire the name "Mr Burton Albion" sooner or later, and
rightly so!!
9. Daryl Clare
Age: 28
Height: 5"9
Weight: 12st
Former Clubs: Boston, Chester, Crawley
Highly experienced striker who has joined the brewers until the end of the 2006/2007 season.
Has nearly 100 goals to his name in only 188 games. Previous clubs include Boston, Chester & Crawley.
He has already stamped his authority at the club by scoring 13 goals as of March 13th. A strong player
who has a powerful shot, pace, and pure footballing ability, lets just hope Daryl Clare keeps fit throughout the season.
10. Andy Ducros
Age: 29
Height: 5"4
Weight: 10st
Former Clubs: Coventry, Kidderminster, Nuneaton
At 5"4 Andy Ducros is one of the smallest players the club has ever seen, but makes up for this
with an adundance of skill. Although at times his skill and quality can change a game, he does have a few bad games here
and there. Although it seems Andy Ducros will be a bit part player next year, I feel he deserves a first team place, but only
when on form. Has missed large chunks of the 2006/2007 season so far due to injury.
11. Keith Gilroy
Age: 23
Height: 5"10
Weight: 10st
Former Clubs: Sligo, Middlesbrough, Scarborough
The young Irishman has made a good impact at the club in his debut season, and his skill and
control of the ball at times has been amazing. At 22 he has time on his side, and should be looking forward to next season
with the Brewers. He scored great goals against Burscough to get the famous draw with Man Utd earlier in the season, a great
first season. The only drawback is an apparant lack of pace. Seems to have a persistent hamstring injury this season.
12. Chris Hall
Age: 23
Height: 5"11
Weight: 11st
Former Clubs: Lincoln Utd
A good young winger, and one for the future. There is no doubt this young lad has an abbudance
of pace and skill, there was a big debate arose about him earlier in the season when Nigel Clough seemed determined to keep
him on the bench, but when he did get his chance, he did pretty good.
Currently ruled out until the end of the 2006/2007 season with knee ligament damage sustained
in November.
13. Martin Taylor (GK Coach)
Age: 40
Height: 5"11
Weight: 14st
Former Clubs: Derby, Wycombe, Telford
A good coach at the club, but occasionally has to play or be on the bench, due to the 3 year
long goalkeeping fiasco, after the sale of Matt Duke, he no longer wants to play because of injuries and is officially retired
from football.
14. Shaun Harrad
Age: 22
Height: 5"10
Weight: 11st
Former Clubs: Notts County, Gresley
One of the better buys of the season, Shaun Harrad has established himself as a good skillful player
at the tender age of 22. Although not a prolific striker, his game is not just about scoring goals, it is about harrying defenses
into making mistakes. But really is just now a bit part player.
15. Terry Henshaw
Age: 27
Height: 5"10
Weight: 11st
Former Clubs: Notts County
Terry Henshaw came to the club in 1999 from Notts County. A defender by trade Terry
gives 100% to the club and is one of the clubs longest serving players with nearly 300 appearances. A bad leg break last year
nearly ended Terry's career, but he has managed to break back into the squad, but really is out of his depth at Conference
level.
16. Jon Shaw
Age: 23
Height: 6"1
Weight: 13st
Former Clubs: Sheffield Wednesday
Currently the clubs No2 striker, Jon has established himself as a very good young striker. Since
being released by hometown club Sheffield Wednesday, he has become a fans favourite.
Standing at just over 6ft, Jon is actually one of the tallest players at the club. His future at the club looks in doubt as
he isn’t playing very well, and hasn’t scored in the league for well over 6 months. This season has played 20
games without a sniff on goal.
17.
John Brayford
Age: 19
Height: 5"11
Weight: 11st
Former Clubs: Trainee
John Brayford just recently made his full conference debut against Southport. At just 19 John is a very young
centre back, but looks to have a bright future ahead of him. The only problem is dislodging first choice centre backs Darren
Tinson (who is expected to retire at the end of the current campaign) and young centre back Ryan Austin. Everyone just wishes
he was played in his correct position, rather than at right back where he isnt comfortable.
18. Steve Scoffham
Age: 23
Height: 5"10
Weight: 12st
Previous Clubs: Gedling, Notts County
1 goal this season from Steve, injured for a major majority of it, and it doesnt look like
he will play again for a while. Very poor season so far.
19. Danny Holmes
Age: 20
Height: 6"0
Weight: 12st
Young and versatile, Danny Holmes signed recently after being released from Port Vale, he can
play in midfield or defence. He isnt the most skillful of players but has a good workrate and is similar in ways to Darren
Stride. This season has been a mixed bag, with many poor performances, however recently has been playing quite well, however
I still believe him to be highly overrated.
20.Nigel Clough
Age: 40
Height: 5"9
Weight: 13st
Former Clubs: Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, Man City
Outings for the manager are a rarity nowadays, but when he is on form, and when he does put his
boots on, he still has some of the class and skill he once possesed. At 40 years of age, he is no spring chicken, but has
great shooting ability however, but at times too defensive and rarely gets the chance to have a pop at goal.
25. Marc Goodfellow
Age: 25
Height: 5"10
Previous Clubs: Stoke, Bristol City, Port Vale, Swansea,
Bury
Marc recently joined the club after being released
by Bury in November after a long layoff with a back injury. Pacy, and with an eye for goal, Goodfellow looks a class player.
However out for the season with a broken arm after only playing 1 reserve game.
